performed by the Inter-Mennonite Children’s Choir and
the Winds including Bell’s Magnificat and Rutter’s What
Sweeter Music. Also The Cremation of Sam McGee by
Michael Purves-Smith, Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus by
Dave Arthur, Selections from The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky
and A Christmas Festival by Anderson. This concert will help
raise funds for the Mennonite Central Committee.

Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Milhaud’s Suite Francaise from
France, Gassi’s Tsunami from Canada, Swearingen’s In All Its
Glory from the United States, and Marquez’ Danzon #2 from
Mexico. Olena Klyucharova will perform Prokofiev’s poetic
and brilliant Piano Concerto No. 1 in this new transcription
for piano and wind orchestra by Douglas McLain.

Our season finale moves from the sublime to the ridiculous
and back with John Barnes Chance’s Incantation and
Dance, Eric Whitacre’s Godzilla Eats Las Vegas, and
Johan de Meij’s five movement Symphony No. 1 “Lord of
the Rings”. John Monkhouse will perform Arthur Pryor’s
Blue Bells of Scotland and Jim Edwards will perform
John Hartmann’s La Belle Americaine.

favourites. The Winds selections will include Vaughan-Williams’ Greensleeves,

Concerto, Curnow’s Christmas Fancies, Prokofiev’s Troika, and Holst’s Christmas
Day for Brass.

Our season finale salutes the Winter Olympics in Sochi
with an all-Russian program including Ballet Music from
Prince Igor by Borodin, Tchaikovsky’s Capriccio Italien,
Khachaturian’s Gayaneh Ballet Suite No. 1, Rachmaninoff’s
Italian Polka, and Prokofiev’s March from Love for Three
Oranges. Julie Strom and Mike Bronson will perform
Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2 as a double concerto
for mallet percussion.
